The company WERZALIT GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1923 in the Black Forest in Germany with the manufacturing of wood materials. The company developed a unique way of producing a new material of finely chipped wood, bonding with special resins under high temperatures and high pressure to form a wood composite. The result is a homogenous, extremely durable material structure, guaranteeing resistance against all climatic influences – wind, rain, hail or ice, cold or heat.

The final breakthrough was made in 1956 when Jakob-Friedrich Werz applied to patent his process. A completely new and, even today, unique material was born: Werzalit.

More than 600 patent applications safeguard the Werzalit know-how throughout the world and guarantee the worldwide licensing of this innovative process. Five production workshops within the Werzalit group and more than twelve licensed factories in several countries supply a continuously growing client base.
